Giveaway events have become extremely popular over the last couple of years and the are popping up everywhere now, sometimes it’s difficult keeping up with all of them.

What are they all about?

Every now and then on occasions such as summertime, holidays etc lots of Internet Marketers join together and submit a free gift for everyone to download in exchange for people signing up to their newsletters.

These are good to get you started in your business in 2 ways.

Firstly if you sign up as a member you can download lots of free products and mostly with either Private Label Rights or Resell rights which means you will be able to resell them yourself.

You can also sign up to most of them as a contributor which means you also get to submit a gift for people to download and this is also a good way to build up your own subscriber list that you can promote your products to.

If you sign up to download the gifts the best way is to make an extra email address especially for the giveaways because you don’t want to get swamped by lots of emails at your main address.

By doing this you can read a few and decide if the newsletters are for you and the good ones you can always transfer to your main email address.

If they are not interesting to you there should be an unsubscribe link in every email if it’s a decent business so you can opt out any time, if not then I would seriously think about who you re dealing with.

If you no longer wish to receive emails from a certain person then do it decent and use the unsubscribe link in the email and don’t pass it off as spam mail because you could cause problems for the person concerned as well as other Marketers including yourself.

How can it harm you? Because the more e-mail addresses that get reported as spam especially with Yahoo, AOL etc the stricter the spam filters get made and this makes it more difficult for anyone to get their mails delivered

Before you start to download first make a new folder on your hard drive specially for the giveaway and include sub folders for Ebooks, Software, Emails, Graphics etc.

Also give the files a name you can recognize as you save them to your PC, this way you will make things a lot easier for yourself later.

To use the giveaways to build your own list you will  have to sign up as a contributor so you can add your own gift, you will also need an opt in page for people to subscribe to your list an also an auto responder service.

An auto responder is a program with which you can set up to automatically answer your emails and redirect people to your download page.

There are some free services on the net but personally I don’t recommend them and if your serious about your business it’s well worth the while to check out the good ones.
