One fact, and it is actually true is that when you get something free then you often don't give it any value and it ends up somewhere collecting digital dust on your hard drive.

Welcome to the third part of this article series, if you missed any or both of the first 2 then you can access them directly here Part one Part two

O.K in the last 2 articles we talked about reviewing the e-mails and comparing the different offers etc.

In this article we will go over some points why it is also important to make purchases.

One fact, and it is actually true is that when you get something free then you often don’t give it any value and it ends up somewhere collecting digital dust on your hard drive.

This is not to say that the product doesn’t have any value because it’s free, often they are excellent products or services but it’s a psychological factor that we tend to put more value on something that we have paid for albeit a few cents.

The fact that you have taken the first step in buying a product or service will encourage you to go on with the next step which is actually using it.

It also creates a certain sense of obligation to ourselves because we have already made an investment.

Try it next time you see a Dime sale, buy it and see for yourself how much quicker you use it even if you only paid 10 cents for it.

That is of course only one reason to make purchases and there are more to follow in the rest of this article.

Another reason to make purchases is because if you are not already making sales then eventually you Will do hopefully and you are going to get e-mails or support tickets from customers involving any problems they may have.

It could be due to technical errors or even human errors causing them not to be redirected to the download page etc, they may simply have a question to ask about something that confuses them.

My point is that it is your job as a Marketer to be able to help those people and the best way to help them is to understand what they are going through.

By making a few purchases first, you then put yourself in the same situation as your customers and because of your own experiences it will make things a lot easier to help people, this will also increase your credibility as a Marketer.

There is nothing worse than not being able to answer a customers question properly, or worse still not at all.

When buying products there are a few things to consider and to make notes on.

First of all don’t go over your budget, before you buy any product make sure you can afford it, if you are just starting out and on a low budget then try a few Dimesales etc because often you can pick these up for a few cents and you are still gaining the experience of knowing what your customers are going through.

Here are some points to take note of.

When you click on the order button does it take you directly to the payment processor or does it take you to a page giving you multiple choices of payment?

Which payment processors do the different marketers use? which seem to be the most popular? note them down.

Where there any extra charges added by certain payment processors? some automatically add sales tax etc on top of the price. Which ones appeal to you? again take notes.

Once your payment transaction is complete are you directed straight to the download page or did you have to wait for an e-mail or confirmation, this is often the case when joining paid membership sites etc.

Is there a One Time Offer before the download page? this is a common technique used by marketers including myself involving selling a product at a low price and gaining it back on the One Time Offers.

What is the One Time Offer? does it appeal to you? even if you can’t afford it would you buy it if you could?

If you turn it down are you presented by a second offer at a usually lower price? what do you think of it?

Make notes on the above points, this will help you by knowing how other marketers work and you could use some of the ideas when creating your own campaigns etc.

Once you arrive at the download link to your product take note of the following points.

Is there a time limit on the download link? this is usually the case when marketers including myself use download protection.

Do you just have to click on it or do you have to right click on it then select save to your computer? mostly you can simply click on them but sometimes as in the download of a single e-book it can be a pdf file and this will require you to right click on it and save as.

Always check usually right at the bottom of the download pages etc through the whole process because often you will find links to the service they are using, this can help you in deciding which services are best for you, if you found it a pleasant experience buying through the system then chances are your customers will too.

Is there a contact link on at least the download page? does it lead to a support center? does it give you an e-mail address? if it’s a support desk do you need to create an account first? what do you find the most helpful? also is there anything you don’t like? so you can avoid submitting your own customers to it.

Once you have downloaded your files take a look at how they are presented,

Are they zipped? are the file names clear to understand or are they all code names that you first have to search through to see what they are?

Are there any other offers or advertisements contained in the zip files? are there any extra unmentioned bonuses? this is a trick I often like to use as a thank-you to my customers, everyone likes surprises

Do you receive a follow up e-mail after your purchase from the marketer? most payment processors will send you a confirmation of your purchase which also serves as a receipt including the transaction details but how does the marketer self go about it? does the e-mail contain a download or contact link in case you encounter problems?

If you take the time to act on the points in this series of articles so far and do some research you should develop a good understanding of how the sales process and e-mail marketing all fits together and be able to come up with some of your own ideas involving some or all of the methods you will discover.

Don’t just note the good points but also take notes on any bad experiences you may have, these are things you will want to avoid for your own customers but also take into consideration that it is not always the marketers fault when things go wrong and try to be polite and professional when submitting or replying to a support ticket or help desk request.

I also promised in the first part of this series to give some tips on what you can do with all those products you have collected on your hard drive but that’s looking like part four now otherwise this article would go on for too long and be too much to digest in one go.

I hope you have enjoyed this series so far and found it helpful in at least some ways, if there is anything you would like to add or comment on, even if you just want to tell me how handsome I still look for my age I would appreciate it if you could leave a comment below.

Until next time Success and Have A Nice Day

an instrumental with lots of guitar work and seems to be a favourite with a lot of people so I hope you like it.

This song is called Sorry Joe! and the reason for this title is because when I first wrote it I shelved it for a while and about 6 months later Joe Satriani came out with a new CD and the main riff was very similar to mine so I altered it slightly.

After listening to the rest of his CD I noticed something else that sounded similar so I thought well “Sorry Joe!” but I’m not changing it again and that’s how the title came about.

Anyway it’s an instrumental with lots of guitar work and seems to be a favourite with a lot of people so I hope you like it.

For the musicians and technical geek’s

This song was recorded on a Fostex D80 8 track hard disk recorder and the drums and keyboards were recorded on a Roland MC50 midi sequencer synchronized to the HD recorder via midi clock.

The Drums were programmed in step for step to get it as human sounding as I could and the sounds were taken from a Boss DR5 drum machine.

The guitars were recorded with the same setup as last months song using my W.S. Custom Guitar and Marshall Jmp1 pre amp straight into the mixing desk for solo’s.

The distorted rhythm guitars were played on my Gibson Les Paul Standard.

The guitar solo’s were all in my usual sort of style, the main solo melody was played using a wah wah pedal for the sound and shaped with the whammy bar on certain notes and on the last part I threw a guitar harmony in the background to give it a bit of difference.

The middle section was played by tapping on the fingerboard with both hands over the top three strings, the right hand tapping arpeggios over the chords and the left hand tapping a scale melody lower down.

The weird stuff in the middle break was just pure guitar abuse.

Sorry Joe!

If the word Defragmentation sounds like a medical cure for sweaty armpits to you then you need to keep reading this article

If you are like me, addicted to cleaning up and keeping your computer running smoothly then you will most likely know these things but I was thinking about how many people contact me when they have computer problems.

In most cases when I go to take a look at the computer in question it just boils down to simple P.C. maintenance.

When you are used to doing it yourself you seem to take for granted that everyone does it but it’s surprising how many people have absolutely no idea of how to keep their P.C. maintained.

Mention Defragmentation to some people and they look at you as if your an alien.

If the word Defragmentation sounds like a Terminal Sickness to you then you need to keep reading this article lol.

Of course this doesn’t at all mean that if you don’t know what to do then you are dumb it just means that nobody has ever taught you or you’ve never read about it.

Anyway the tips in this article are aimed at anyone using a Windows System and who has very little or no idea of how to maintain a P.C. they are simple enough for anyone to carry out.

Ok first one thing that is very often overlooked is Temporary Internet Files.

When you browse the Internet in order to view a webpage it has to be downloaded to your computer or at least the important parts of it and even after you have closed the pages you were viewing they still leave the temporary files behind on your hard drive.

These mount up and use up your valuable drive space and also slow your computer down in time, in fact if you are an active surfer it should be no problem to accumulate 100 MB or more in temp files in a couple of hours.

To clean these up do the following:

If you are using vista or xp simply go to your start menu, click on Control Panel then the Internet Options Icon.

A dialog box will appear with tabs at the top.

If it doesn’t default to the General tab then click on that and you should get this view. Click_Here

Just go down to Browsing history and Click on the Delete button as shown by the arrow.

Another thing that tends to get clogged up in time is your registry but this is a part of your computer to stay out of if you don’t know what you are doing .

The good news is there are a few programs designed to do this for you and you can download a good one for free to do both the above tasks and more by clicking here.

Download and install the above program and run it at least once a day, it doesn’t take long.

Spyware or Adware is one of the worst things for slowing down your P.C.

As you surf the Internet quite often little programs will be installed on your P.C. without you knowing, they are known as spyware programs and can vary in type or functionality depending on whatever they are designed to do.

The worst sort are Trojan Horses as these can be dangerous to your computer and/or privacy, they are often a hackers connection from your computer to his/her computer and can be used to gain external control over your P.C. if not found and deleted in time.

The other sort of Spyware programs are usually used to track browsing activity etc for research on advertising amongst other things but even if they are not accessing your personal information they are still using up your Internet bandwidth and P.C. resources causing it to slow down.

So what’s the solution to this one?

For the spyware you can download a little program that I have used for years and is also free by clicking here

Download the above program and run it at least once a week to keep your P.C. clean.

As for the big boys such as the Trojan Horses and Viruses etc you need to install some sort of Anti Virus Software and a Firewall to help prevent hacker attacks.

Here are some free and/or popular downloads you may want to try:

AVG

Norton

Avira

Zone Alarm

OK. now that your P.C. is clean you need to Defragment your hard drive.

It’s hard to explain Defragmentation without getting technical but the simplest way I have found to explain it is as follows:

If you are like me at the age where you can still remember the cassette tapes that you used to record music etc on then you will also remember that if you erased for example song number 4 and placed the cassette in the recorder starting at the beginning then to listen to song number 8 you would have to wind the tape forwards to that point where the song was.

You would also have to wait until the tape wound through the empty space too where you erased the song 4.

You could cut out a piece of the tape that was empty and splice the two together then you would be able to wind the tape through faster because every song was after the last one with no more empty space.

O.K. if you are too young to remember cassette tapes not to worry because a hard drive works on the same sort of principal.

Everything you do on your computer or the Internet leaves behind rubbish such as Temp files etc and using the tips I described above will sort all that out for you but just like erasing the song on the cassette tape every time you delete something it leaves a space on your hard drive.

The fact that your P.C. has to scan over the empty spaces too doesn’t help your speed but another thing also happens.

The next time you save a file to your hard drive your computer will automatically search for the first available empty space and write it to that section of your drive but unfortunately if the file won’t all fit in that space it will search for the next available space and throw the rest of the file in there.

This causes your file to be split into fragments hence the name File Fragmentation and the next time you want to open the file it takes longer for your P.C. to find the whole file.

As you can imagine once you’ve saved and deleted a few hundred or thousand files your hard drive is going to be in quite a mess and heavily fragmented causing it to run often really slow.

To solve this problem you need to Defragment your hard drive on a regular basis as follows.

If you have used your computer for a while and never done this (You’d be surprised at how many people fit into this category) then start it at night and let it run while your in bed asleep or whatever else you may be doing because it could take hours.

If you are using Vista or XP simply go to your start menu, click on All programs then Accessories, System Tools or System Workset then finally on Disk Defragmentation.

You can first Analise the disk and Windows will let you know if it’s necessary or not but I recommend doing it anyway and I personally defragment without analyzing it first to save time but that’s your choice.

I would recommend doing this at least once a month and preferably more, I sometimes defrag on a daily basis to keep my P.C. running smoothly but that’s me

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this article and please feel free to add any comments or extra useful information in the comments box below.

P.S. Here is a course that I highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn step for step how to really tune up their P.C.

With this songI wanted to create a sort of rock rap style funny song about the Hollywood stars etc and how everything is surrounded by bullpoo and falsehood and this is what I came up with.

If you are American then please don’t take it to heart because it’s all meant in good fun lol.

My wife Kim sang the backing vocals and I did everything else.

The guitars were recorded with the same setup as most of my songs using my W.S. Custom Guitar and Marshall Jmp1 pre amp straight into the mixing desk.

The guitar solo was done with three guitar parts all playing in harmony with each other and the sound was created with a bottleneck slide on all three guitars.

In order to get the really high notes I had to take the bottleneck slide past the fingerboard and play above the pickups feeling for the notes.

This was something I have always wanted to try because I’ve personally never heard anyone else play a harmony solo on the bottleneck.

This Image is Made up entirely from clippings of photos that I took of fireworks on New Years Eve. even the fence is made up from rocket trails in the sky

Here following are a series of the original images so that I can explain a little about how it was built up.

It started with just a plain black background and using the following images I Cut out the parts were the arrows are and altered the colours etc then pasted them onto the background as shown in Pic 3 to create the grass effect.

Pic 1

Pic 2

Pic 3

The next step was adding the sky and this was cut out from a photo of the night sky, (it is actually the moon that you see shining) but I brightened up the image clip to make it more like daytime, see Pic4

Then I added a little more grass effect as seen in Pic 5

Pic 4

Pic 5

The next step was the fence and this took a little longer to put together.

This was done by cutting out the rocket trails seen in pic 6 and stretching them into the correct length etc.

Then I had to build up the fence piece by piece until I got the fence as seen in Pic 7

Pic 6

Pic 7

The next thing I did was to make the) flower stems and these were cut out from the following image Pic 8 as you can see by the arrows.

Once again I altered the colours etc to create the effect I wanted as in Pic 9.

The red arrow points to the ones on the left of the final image and the blue arrows points out the stems on the right hand side only with the colours changed.

Actually I’ve just noticed a cow with a runny nose in Pic 8 can you see it? It’s under the red arrow.

Pic8

Pic 9

OK, still with me? Good. The next step was the grass around the bottoms of the stems this was cut out from pic 10 as shown by the blue arrow.

For the butterfly I cut out the part shown by the red arrow, then I made a copy of it and flipped it over to make a sort of mirror image of the first, then I joined them both together and once again altered the colours to get the butterfly in Pic 11.

Pic 10

Pic 11

Ok now the last step, the big red flowers. These were cut out of the following image (Pic 12) and altered slightly in colour as you can see in the final Image.

Everything was done on a separate layer in Adobe Photoshop then the layers were merged together and Bingo! there you have it.

Now you can see how I came up with the name Fire Garden because that’s exactly what it is.

Pic 12

Final Image

OK that’s about it for this one, I hope you liked it.

Hee Hee, this is an idea I came up with one day when I was bored.

Ever tried selling ordinary everyday water, the stuff that comes out of the tap (Faucet)?

Here is my way of doing it, of course this is only for humour purposes and is not a real advertisement or product and all characters etc are also totally fictional.

Check out the special bonuses and the testimonials, (If you are easily offended then don’t go there)

Clicking on the order button will redirect you to a serious offer that has nothing to do with water.

This Song is basically written for someone I spent half my life searching for but could never find, there is a long deep story behind this but to cut the story short it turned out the person I was really looking for wasn’t even a woman, it was me.

The song is more piano based and to be honest I can’t really play the piano that good and the piano part on this song was done in short pieces but my idea is to re-record the song in the future with a real piano player and hopefully a good acoustic grand piano.

The rest of the stuff was played in live and of course please excuse my vocals, yes I do have a guitarists voice heehee but I try.

Not a lot of guitar solos in this one but I did put one in the middle taking over from the saxophone.

The background vocals were sung by Me and my wife Kim and the rest was just me.

For the musicians and technical geeks

This song was recorded on a Fostex D80 8 track hard disk recorder and the drums and keyboards were recorded on a Roland MC50 midi sequencer synchronized to the HD recorder via midi clock.

The Drums were programmed in step for step to get it as human sounding as I could and the sounds were taken from a Boss DR5 drum machine.

The guitars were recorded with the same setup as last months song using my W.S. Custom Guitar and Marshall Jmp1 pre amp straight into the mixing desk.

The piano part was programmed on the roland midi sequencer and will be replaced in the future with a real piano.

The rest of the keyboards I played as they are and I recorded those on to the midi sequencer.

In order to get the string sections as they are I first had to study a lot about how an orchestra string section is put together and which tone ranges the different instruments have and then I played each one separate for example, first the violins, then the second violins, then the cellos then the bass strings etc.

Then I mixed all the different tracks together and tried to position them as a real string orchestra would be positioned so as you can imagine it took me a long time to put the strings together and I didn’t simply play the chords.

The saxophone solo I played on the keyboard which is by the way a Roland E20 and I added some echo to it on the final mix to lift it a bit.

Of course being a guitarist I had to get a solo in there and my idea here was to get it to fade from the saxophone to the guitar on the mix but it doesn’t really come out as good as I wanted on this mp3 and will get that better when I redo it.

The solo starts on the same note as the saxophone ends and begins with a few slow notes shaped with the usual whammy bar now and again, then it goes through a couple of faster sections combining picking with hammer on’s, pull offs etc to build it up.

Finally at the end the last five notes where fretted actually an octave lower than they sound and the notes where produced by touching the string with my first finger of my right hand at a harmonic point one octave above the fretted note and picking the string with the plectrum between that point and the bridge while at the same time releasing my first finger to let it ring out, it takes a bit of practice if your not used to it but I like those little details heehee.

Research is an extremely important part of Internet Marketing, in fact in any Business be it on or offline so if you are not already doing it then it's time to start if you really want to be successful.

Hi and welcome to part two of this article series, if you missed part one you can access it directly here

As I mentioned in part one there are two ways to look at all those e-mail offers you receive in your mailbox but here are some things you can do with them to help you in your business.

Firstly I thought this was a good comment from Don on the first one and a nice addition to the post, Thank you Don.

“I don’t unsubscribe because the last 10 or any number were not of interest at the time. Who knows when the exact thing I want/need will just magically arrive in the old inbox”

That’s one way to look at it and if the e-mail isn’t interesting it’s only one click to delete it.

OK here goes.

If you are subscribed to a number of lists you will quite often get bombarded with e-mails all promoting the same thing, especially if it’s a new product launch from a well known Guru who everyone seems to know or want to know.

Instead of deleting them all group them together, most e-mail programs allow you to do this, otherwise make a temporary folder for them and move them to that folder as they come in.

Wait a couple of days and when you have a few together first check the e-mails themselves and compare them asking yourself the following questions and make notes.(Very important to do this even if it’s just in a simple text editor such as windows notepad.)

What is the Headline used? did it grab you attention? Is it original or is it the same as everyone is using? List any you like for future ideas.

How is the e-mail formatted? has the Marketer used his own description or has he/she just used the usually supplied pre-written e-mail like everyone else or has he/she just edited parts of it to suit his/her own style?

Are there certain words or phrases that get used often or in more e-mails from different people, did they catch your attention and why?

Are there any bonuses being offered if you buy from that link? mostly in the case of affiliate promotions it becomes a battle of who can offer the biggest bonus. who is offering the best and why?

Are the e-mails personalised meaning do they address you by First Name or Full Name? what made the e-mail more appealing to you?

How many times did that particular Marketer e-mail you? did He/She e- mail you every day, just once or multiple times a day? what did you find got YOUR attention the best?

These are just a few ideas although you could scrutinize them even further such as see if there is an unsubscribe link in the e-mails or does the Marketer have his/her address at the bottom. this is usually enforced by law so any e-mails not containing that information you can be sceptic about.

Once you have compared the actual e-mails and made notes it’s time to start clicking on the links, if however the offer seems appealing to you then click on the links straight away as the e-mails come in because some may be time sensitive and waiting a couple of days could cause you to miss out on a good deal.

Firstly look at the link itself, does it scream affiliate link or has it been cloaked or disguised?

Just for clarity and in case you don’t know what I mean by an affiliate link I will briefly explain.

Most Marketers who release a product will have what is known as an affiliate program which you can sign up for (usually free) and once your signed up you will get your own personal link to the product which you can use to promote it for commissions.

This link will contain your own unique code that it carries with it and if anyone buys that product through your link then you will be paid the agreed commision for the sale.

Often your code is placed at the end of the link so a lot of people will nip the end of your link off that contains your code and paste the remainder of the link in their browser just to stop you getting paid, yes it happens often and I think this is a lousy trick because the person who does this won’t get it any cheaper and pasting their own code at the end usually doesn’t work anymore because most affiliate programs won’t allow them to buy from themselves anyway for security reasons.

A link cloaker is a program or service that allows you to change the look of your affiliate link while still keeping your code even though hidden.

Here is one of my cloaking services that you may use for free if you wish, simply paste your original link in the box and click on the arrow for your newly formatted link.

http://mywebtoolspage.com/url/

Ok now that’s cleared up lets get back to the main subject.

As you click on the links ask the following questions and again make notes.

Did the link open quickly or did it take a long time?

Did it go straight to the site or was there a page between such as a link cloaking page? where there any more adverts on that page in between or maybe an opt in box for some other offer? again did it grab YOUR attention?

Is it an affiliate link or is it a site from the Marketer you got the e-mail from? in the case of an affiliate link then it’s usually a battle of who gives the biggest bonus as I mentioned, if it is a page from the Marketer who mailed you then it usually comes down to a price war, who is giving the cheapest price? you’ll be surprised at the difference from one Marketer to another and this is how you find the best deals, don’t go grabbing the first one you see without checking out the rest because you can save yourself a lot of money here which is another reason why you should group them and compare them.

How does the site look in general? does it appeal to you? is it easy to read? are the graphics good? what grabbed your attention the most about the page?

Does the page have links for the disclaimer etc at the bottom? is there a support contact link on the page?

As above these are just a few things to check out, take the time to think of your own ideas too and I’m not saying you should do this every time a new product is launched or with all e-mails you get because it does take up some time but if you do this frequently you will begin to see a picture of how other Marketers work and use the ideas you liked best in your own campaigns, you could find some excellent ideas to use that you would otherwise never of thought of yourself.

Another advantage it gives you is that you also stay up to date with what’s happening on the web which is also very important for any Internet Marketer.

The best thing about this information you will find is that it is first hand information that you have researched and not something you have found written in a report which gives it a certain uniqueness, hey what the hell after a while you could even put the information together and make your OWN report from it and sell it or give it away to build your list whatever.

To conclude this part of the series my point here is on the contrary to what the other Marketer is saying about Marketers sending you information.

If you use your own head and do your research as all good Marketers should then you’ll be surprised at the information and tips you can pick up from these offers, after all does it really need to be stamped on your forehead for you are shoved down your throat before it’s any use to you?

Research is an extremely important part of Internet Marketing, in fact in any Business be it on or offline so if you are not already doing it then it’s time to start if you really want to be successful.

I’m going to shut up for now and in the next part of this series I will cover another important thing, buying some of the offers.

I can hear you now “what do you mean BUY them? I’m in this business to make money not spend it’ which actually happens to be a comment I have heard from some people but I will explain why this is important in my next article.

Have a nice day
