Three Sides To Every Story

I was inspired to write this article after reading one from another apparently sour or dissapointed Internet Marketer which was advising people to do the following:

He told them to read the last 10 e-mails from any Marketer and if he/she didn’t send you any information besides Product offers then unsubscribe to his/ her list.

While this is one way of looking at it and I respect his views as everyone is entitled to their opinion I personally find it a little biased as like the title of this article implies, there are three sides to every story.in this case My side, His side and the truth which is what you make of it yourself, Your side.

There are a number of other points to consider before taking any action on the above advise as I will explain in this article.

Firstly, Why did you sign up to that list in the first place? What did the Marketer promise you when you signed up? Did you even bother to consider this when you signed up? be honest now.

The reason I asked that last question is because of what happens a lot and especially with newbies to Internet Marketing (Yes I’ve Been There Too) is that they go signing up to almost every Giveaway Event that launches and clicking on every gift offer that has been added for the sole purpose of filling their hard drive with FREE products, sound familiar? again be honest here.

The next thing they know they have a mailbox full of e-mails that they opted in for and can’t even remember when and why and lots of them offering the same products or promotions so they start getting annoyed and passing them off as spam etc.

I know this is true because like I said I have been there myself and I have actually had people sign up to the same list 7 or 8 times from different Giveaway Events just to get the free gift I was offering without realising that they already had multiple copies of the same product.

To go even further I’ve had a couple of people even buy the same one time offer that was attached to it twice and one person even went on to buy the same package at the full price from my main website meaning that the person actually bought the same package 3 times.

In case your wondering why the person was so eager go here :)

Of course because I am honest I contacted the people involved and refunded them their payments made after the original sale but my point here is that people often don’t even know what they are either buying or signing up for.

All mailing lists are directed at different things, some are targeted at only special offers and deals, some offer information, some offer both, it depends on the Marketer concerned but they ALL have one thing in common:

They Are All Leading To A Sale

Hard as it seems that is a fact because that’s what Internet Marketers do, after all isn’t that what Marketing means? Marketing = Selling.

Now that we got that cleared up were do you go from here and why am I telling you all this?

Because as with everything in our universe there is a Positive and a Negative side to everything and which side it turns out to be is totally in your own hands.

Firstly let me tell you that I personally recieve between 250 – 400 e-mails each day in my mailbox on my P.C. and a further 3000+ from safelists etc on my G-mail accounts.

The e-mails that come to my P.C. I have to at least browse through in case they are support tickets etc from customers or they contain other important information but I can speed read to a certain extent which I can reccomend learning because it will help you a lot in your business.

OK lets assume that you are also a person who gets swamped with e-mails of the same offers every day, there are two things you can do with all them

1: you can pass them off as spam and unsubscribe as the Marketer who inspired me to write this article suggests – The Negative Side.

2; You can use them to boost your own business in a number of ways, The Positive Side which I will explain in detail in follow up articles, I was going to explain now but I realise that this article would go on far too long and become more of a report so I’ve decided to turn it into a series of articles making it easier to digest the information.

Check back often for the rest of the articles in this series and I will give you some ideas on how to use these offers etc to your own advantage and also what to do with all those products that are collecting digital dust on your hard drive.

Ha ha sorry just had to giggle. I’m one of those guys who is on so many lists it makes my head swim. I operate a bit different I suppose.

Occasionally I buy a package because it is useful I think to me. If I’m on your list you provided something a product or info I found to be of value or use. If you offer me something and I find a use or need for it there is a good chance I will make a purchase.

I don’t unsubscribe because the last 10 or any number were not of interest at the time. Who knows when the exact thing I want/need will just magically arrive in the old inbox. I have found actually most good marketers offer valueable information far more often than sales pitches. You are correct there is more than one side to every story. Nice post.

I average 350+ emails per day. It’s not humanly possible to read them all–even if I had nothing else to do with my time…lol!
My email used to have a 500mb capacity, so every couple of months, I would have to spend an entire day, scanning through page after page (‘cuz every page had a few I wanted to keep), and mass deleting stuff. What a pain that was!
Recently my isp changed the format, so capacity is unlimited. I’m now the proud owner of more than 30,000 UNREAD messages. Do I care? Not really!!!
I seldom unsubscribe from any list….like Don mentioned above, you never know when someone will send something…some info, idea, gift, or great offer on something, that is just what you’re needing at the time.
I scan through the subject lines, if something catches my attention, I look at it, if not, I probably won’t open it. I would venture to say, there are a few marketers I usually DO open, some I’ve probably never opened…..and most marketers get read once in awhile!

I do have my hands tied up right now, to keep myself from signing up for all those giveaways….LOL!

  • Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds also…

  • Very good article I like your blog keep up the great blog posts

  • Interesting, (well, what I could read of it). I am color blind (deuteranopia to be precise). I mainly use Chrome browser (no idea if that is important), and quite a lot of this web page is a little difficult for me to read. I know that it is not your problem really, however it would be cool if you would consider us color challenged types whilst undertaking the next site redesign.
